I've been seeing this everywhere online which I actually prefer to resolutions so I'm jumping on the bandwagon to share my ins and outs of 2024. I've already got a post up on Instagram about it. See here.
So let me start of with how I see this current trend. Rather than setting yourself up for failure (yes, I mean resolutions), it is about creating a mindset; a vibe if you will of how you want to live your life in the new year. It's more about general habits and easy to implement into your daily life. Quitting a habit cold turkey or going hard with a new workout will only lean to burnout incredibly quickly.
Let's have a look at what is IN for me in 2024:
MORE mental awareness: I have no shame in admitting that I am glued to my phone. Whenever I am in an uncomfortable situation, I look at my phone; anything to just keep me distracted. In 2024 I would really like to be LESS attached to my phone. This could be as simple as not listening to anything while on the tube or even while I'm walking around the city. Actively keeping my phone away when I'm watching TV. I have started to use the various profiles (you'll know this if you have an iPhone, sorry Android users). I have a ''Work'' profile set up which silences notifications from various apps that I just don't need while at work (Instagram and TikTok to name a few). 2024 is all about living in the moment.
Dosha balancing: It's been the festive season, I've been traveling loads, my dosha is all over the place. I want to go back to living more within my dosha, to help it thrive and allow my body to perform at its optimum levels. If you'd like to learn more about your dosha, reach out to me! You can even take a FREE dosha quiz online and send me the results to help you analyze them. This is one of my favorite quizzes available, click here.
Daily movement: I'm quite proud of my movement lifestyle in 2023 and in this new year it's about maintaining it. Something that I'd like to incorporate every single day is hitting a daily step goal. My daily step goal is 10,000. This might look different for you depending on your lifestyle.
More whole foods: I didn't necessarily fall off the healthy food train but processed foods entered the chat quite frequently in 2023. I found myself craving festive treats from McDonald's and eating way too many Lindtt chocolate truffles. 2024 has no room for these foods anymore. I will forever have a sweet tooth and I will never compromise on it but I want to focus more on natural, whole foods with no preservatives. This will also help in balancing my dosha.
Meditation practice: This looks different for everyone. Meditation does not have to be sitting with your eyes closed. It could be listening to a podcast on your daily commute, staring at greenery for a few minutes. A moment where you can be alone and switch yourself off from the outside world for a few minutes. That is meditation, find what works for you and stick with it. For me, I have a meditation practice that works for me, I just have not been consistent with it. This new year I am trying to make it a part of my daily routine again, only then will I see the benefits again.
Now moving on to what it OUT for 2024:
Unnecessary stress: This is more of a reminder for myself, to not get stressed over things that are not in my control. I choose calm and that calm is in my control. In 2023 I found myself unnecessarily stressing out. I don't even know why or how. This could be a sign of my dosha being unbalanced or even not eating the right foods, leading to inflammation therefore leading to stress within my body. Whatever the reason may be, 2024 has no room for stress; thank you very much.
Processed food: It may sound like I am repeating myself so I am just going to say see number 4 above.
Over-stimulation of the digital world: The digital world is amazing but it's also very intense. There is constant stimulation being thrown at you every single second. More often than not, you don't even realize that it is happening to you. Being less reliant on my phone will help to decrease all the constant stimuli coming my way.
Sedentary days: There have been days where I literally have not moved more than 100 steps. I am not shaming myself for it because at the time, it was just what I needed. But I know that for myself, I feel SO MUCH BETTER when I am moving my body. Being aware of your body's needs will help you figure out what it needs. My body likes movement, routine, being active. So that's what I'm going to do for it in 2024.
What are your INs and OUTs for 2024? I hope this post has helped light some of these thoughts in your mind. It's not really a resolution list but rather a list of what I'd like more of in the new year and what I'd like less or not at all.
Happy New Year!
This is you year!
This is your high vibe!
